Spending Your Life

The story goes that a young Chinese was about to be executed, and his last words were: "Some mens spend nice new money, I spends nice new life."

How is your life being spent?

A large corporation where I was once employed (and who shall remain nameless) had a document circulating about which showed the actuarial statistics for retired managers. The average retiree lived less than five years beyond the retirement date.

Imagine putting in twenty, thirty or even more years doing essentially the same thing every day, then taking five years to die.

That's certainly Spending with a capital "S", but it's not investing, and it sure as hel isn't Living with or without a capital "L".

Another life, just spent.

Take some time to think about how you're living today. Are you living, or are you spending?

If you're doing the latter, it's never to late to change, but change you must. I did; and once you "get it" it's actually pretty easy, and a LOT more fun.

Take one small step today and just think over some possible ways to cut back on your "spending"!

Tell me what you think,

Until next time-

-David
